Sneak Peak at Mason's Newborn Session!!

I met up with proud parents Jen and David for a newborn session with their son Mason last month- What a gem!! He is just too cute! Mason actually came one month earlier than expected, so we ended up doing the shoot two days prior to his original due date. The pregnancy session was so much fun, but meeting Mason was the best! Congrats Jen and David!!

Then and Now

As a child I watched in wonderment as my parents snapped photos with their Canon camera (my dad circa '82). I loved that camera, so sleek and shiny. But what I loved most was what you did with a camera, you captured moments and kept them forever. My parents carried their camera on our many trips to Europe, the Caribbean, throughout the United States and back home again. I was young enough to forget and now am so grateful to have those photos. Unfortunately in 1992 Hurricane Andrew hit and all their equipment was lost. I was 12 and was mixed with emotions that needed to be expressed, so I picked my rectangular turquoise camera, that I swear came free in a cereal box, and documented the destruction of the hurricane. It wasn't until my high-school graduation that I got my first "real" camera as a gift from my parents. I immediately began to snap away and capture the last moments of my senior year in high school. I was on a roll until one night after a wedding someone stole the camera from my car. I was heart broken and began a path that lead me to receive a degree in Family and Child Sciences. I worked in the field for about 5 years but noticed I was getting farther and farther away from what I really loved.

After saving up a bit, I decided to test out photography again and bought the Powershot S2 IS by Canon. This is one of the first photos I took with the camera.

I was in love again. Completely inspired. Within a year I purchased the EOS Rebel XTi and began to explore but the more I learned the more passionate I became and the more I realized the job I was currently in, was no longer for me. In February 2009, I threw caution to the wind and began my business. With a smile on my face I began my journey as a photographer. My first purchase was the EOS 50D and the 24-70mm f/2.8L lens. Although I switched careers I still loved working with children which made my first job that much easier. Here is one of the first photos I took after switching my job.

After a few more jobs I got the Speedlite 580EX II, after a few more jobs I got the 50mm f/1.4 and the EOS 5D MarkII (big jump, I know but felt limited by the crop factor on my 50D) and when I wish I had more equipment I rent it from Borrowlenses. :) I remain inspired and in love with photography. Here I am, feet in the sand wondering how life could be so sweet!! Please forgive the wild hair--it was a windy day!! xxoo

Congrats Jen and David!!

I was absolutely thrilled to do a maternity shoot with Jen and David who are expecting their baby boy, Mason, around October this year. They were so cute together it made me feel like I was doing an engagement session :) I do have to say that photographing children and maternity sessions are some of my favorites. After working in the early childhood field for years it is a blessing to remain connected to something I loved for so long!!

No Address Promo Shoot 2009

I spent last weekend doing a shoot in Jacksonville with the band No Address. I love shooting in Jacksonville because of the variety of places to photograph. Within an hour and a half we were walking through a small historic town and the next minute I was begging them to get their feet wet by walking into the marshes of a lake. Great session! You can visit them on Facebook No Address Fan Page

Sky's Birthday at Pookies Boutique

Sky celebrated her 5th birthday at Pookies Boutique. What a blast this place is! Walls are brightly painted and chandeliers adorn the room that is filled with fashionable clothes and accessories. For the party a special VIP section is set up for all of the girls and one by one they are able to choose a "dress-up" option of their choice. This includes getting your hair, nails and make-up done. As a party gift to each guest the girls keep what is used for their dress-up costume! Once everyone gets ready there is a runway show followed by some amazing karaoke and of course cake. Pookies is a dress-up gem for all young girls and a perfect location for your next birthday party! You can check them out at: www.pookiesboutique.com
Happy Birthday Sky! Your party was so much FUN!

Our pets are a part of the family too!

Some people have been asking if I do pet photography too and the answer to that is YES! I usually try to fit it in while photographing families and children, however if you want a special session just for your feline family member, I can do that as well. (The big fluffy cat on the right is Skyler, the other love of my life)

An Engagement Celebration

Noelle and Christian celebrated their wedding engagement at a trendy restaurant called Grass, in the Design District, Miami. This amazing couple is completely full of energy and their love for each other is clear, which made photographing the event that much more fun!

An Anniversary Celebration

Phil and Patty recently celebrated their 37th anniversary and I was there to capture the moment. Following their session they sent me an email of one of the photographs framed and placed in their bedroom.
